Root wood

A tree stump consists of:

  • root wood: the complete underground part of the tree
  • stump wood in the actual sense: the remaining part of the stump above ground

This root wood has a lower lumber industry value and is only recoverable at great effort. It is, however, of ecological value.

Root wood can be utilized either thermally or composted by using shredding machines.
